Yep, this is the obligatory “about us” page. I’m not going to put much about me in here. I’ll just mention that I’m using this blog to write random posts about science kits, science toys and maybe some educational toys in general. I’m not even going to link to an email where an anonymous visitor can reach me. A savvy visitor could probably put 2 and 2 together and figure it out.

Okay, maybe I should write a little more text on this page, as the arachnids do occasionally crawl it.  I love science toys. Some of the cool science kits on here are the best available anywhere. The Uncle Milton Ant Farm Gel Colony is a lot of fun. Scientific Explorer makes some great science kits as well. And it’s always fun to play with one of the all-time classic engineering toys- the gyroscope. Tedco Toys is the predominate maker and supplier for this great toy.

I also love playing with microscopes and telescopes. Getting children interested in astronomy and biology is one of the greatest favors you can do for them. My kid has a poster of the solar system in his room and we love studying the planets and learning all about Saturn’s and Jupiter’s moons.

Sometimes we connect our microscope video eyepiece to the big screen TV and explore the microscopic world of a single drop of pond water. If you’ve never done this, this is an amazing adventure. Not only is it very educational for children, it’s simply a lot of fun.

If you’ve never made your own bubble gum, you should try it sometime. There are plenty of chemistry sets out there that focus on kitchen chemistry and making your own concoctions such as soda and bubble gum. Of course, there are plenty of the standard chemistry kits where children can make slimes and polymers, the standard acids and bases, and bubbly and fizzy mixtures as well.
